Suddenly the Light Entered

Solo exhibition

HaAmakim Art Gallery, Sha’ar HaAmakim, Curator - Einat Sinai Pasternak

uddenly the Light Entered is a site-responsive installation centered around a fragile white house frame, open to the entry of light. Embedded within the structure are watercolor paintings, photographs, light boxes, and handwritten texts that emerge from everyday moments shaped by motherhood and wartime. Together, they form an intimate environment where light becomes more than a subject—it is a force that transforms perception, creating space for vulnerability, resilience, and the possibility of hope within fracture.

Olive tree in a paint bucket, Paving stones, white paint, sawdust
220X80X170 cm, 2023

My presence is indicated by the white color. I mark, try to protect, and choke at the same time. Using everyday materials, the generic paving stones are used as sidewalks and grave markers, emphasizing the ease with which life can turn into death.

Those who approach

200X60X200 cm, 2023

The swing and the calcite crystals I collected in the field are my most innocent childhood memories. They reside inside a displaced door frame at a height that does not allow swinging, a stifled ghost swing.

Olive branches, perforated crib, door frame, zip ties
300X200X230 cm, 2023

My temporary structure is made from olive branches that I collected from olive vineyards, a tree whose symbolism represents complexity to me as a Jewish woman living in Galilee. As a perforated cradle gathers under its shadow, the protected area collapses and becomes a death trap.
